GamerScore : 3000
5 years later, November 2008, I created my Xbox360 gamertag 'iLoxy', and was introduced to the world of Xbox Live GamerScores and Achievements.
Earlier this week, it was a successor to the game that kickstarted my online gaming experience that tips me over the brink of 3000 Xbox Live GamerScore Achievement points!
That game is the amazing Rainbow Six Vegas!
Achievement : True Identity
Detail : Used the Xbox Live Vision to create a character with your appearance

Guide : Using Twitter - Part I

In March 2006, a small privately funded startup company from San Francisco created a messaging tool, which later launched to the masses in August 2006.
Now, in 2009, this internal 'side project' has grown into a global phenomenon; the short messaging service you know as 'Twitter'.
Twitter is available over multiple networks, devices and has many purposes :
- share your personal updates with the world
- promote professional services & wares
- keep in touch with friends & colleagues
Read on to find out...
REGISTRATION
The very first step to using Twitter is to visit http://www.twitter.com/ and hit the big 'Get Started - Join' button!

Enter a few simple details, such as :
- a username (like a nickname; this will be your login name)
- a password
- your email address
FOLLOWERS & FOLLOWING
Twitter works on the basis that you 'follow' peoples updates, and people 'follow you.
Some people liken it to eavesdropping, spying, or just being plain nosy.
Others find it an essential way of keeping up-to-date with the latest news, gossip and rumours from a wealth of resources (fashion, current affairs, sport, business etc).
The scope and reach of Twitter is phenomenal.
You can search for and follow your friends, celebrities, businesses, news broadcasters - anybody!
You can also invite your friends, family & colleagues to join and follow your updates.
At the time of creating your Twitter profile, you will be guided through a step-by-step process to find people and follow them.
You can also do this anytime after you have initially created your profile.
To do so, login to http://www.twitter.com/ and hit the 'Find People' link on the top-right of the page.
Both techniques will take you through the following screen :

You will be able to search for a person or business etc; or send invitations by email.
Follow the on-screen instructions for full details.
You can also type the website address for a Twitter user, if you know the URL.
For example, find me at http://www.twitter.com/iloxy and hit the 'Follow' button below my avatar (photograph).
Once your Twitter profile is active, you can begin 'tweeting'.
This is the practice of sending short messages, in bursts of up to 140 characters as a maximum.
There are 4 standard types of tweets you can send :
- a general message to the public timeline or 'Twitterverse'
- a reply to any tweet you read from other people on Twitter or 'Tweeple'
- a direct (private) message to people who follow your tweets (this does not appear on the public timeline)
- a ReTweet which allows you to re-post a tweet made by another person (like forwarding an email)
To post a tweet, login to http://www.twitter.com/ with the username and password you created, type in the big empty box at the top of the page, and hit the 'Update' button.

That's your first tweet to the general public of Twitter users!
Well done!!
YOUR TWITTER BIO
There are a few simple things you can do to personalise your Twitter experience for yourself, and your 'followers' :
- select an avatar (small picture or photo of yourself, logo etc)
- select a background colour scheme for your own Twitter page
- set your privacy options & personal info
This is all easily done from the 'Settings' link on the top-right of the page, and gives you a sense of identity in the 'Twitterverse', allowing people to easily recognise you, and forge a connection & rapport.

Self-Confessed Techno-Geek
However, in the Autumn of 1996, he was introduced to 'electronic mail' - now commonly known as 'email' - and soon after building up his contact list, many an hour was lost in his new cyberworld of snail-mail digital communication.
Little did he know at that time, that his life would change forever!
This new technology allowed him to contact many people at once, keep a record of conversations - some which held important information...the majority which, well, didn't - plus he didn't have to pay anything - no postal fees, no extortionate mobile phone fees, and best of all, he could send pictures, documents and links to websites!!!
As the years passed, and he became more interested in the internet and its potential, he developed skills in a newly-found passion of his - webdesign.
In 1999, his hunger and love for digital media and arts led him to a dream job as a web & graphics design trainer.
He was in his element : learning new skills, techniques, and creating websites, coupled with teaching people all the best practice ways to gain their desired results using various software.
Throughout this early period of his career he continued to pursue another of his passions : playing video games.
Some may say to this very day he was, is, and always shall be addicted to gaming.
He would argue he is honing and training his hand-eye coordination =;o)
In 2003, after he took his first, tentative step into the uncertain and reputedly hostile world of online gaming, thanks to Microsoft's Xbox and Xbox Live service, he built a website, formed a gaming team, or 'clan', and has not looked back since.
Loxgamers - http://www.loxgamers.com/ - are still active today, a great testament to the loyal members who have toiled to keep a safe, enjoyable and reliable gaming community alive.
However, as the years have passed, and other priorities have emerged to take a greater precedence, his efforts and activities in webdesign and online gaming have taken a back seat.
His love for exchanging banter on Xbox Live and the Loxgamers forums has not left him, but opportunity seems to have left him...
...or so it would have appeared, until one fated day of April 2008.
His beautiful woman 'Loxette' had forgotten to pick up her mobile phone as she left for work in the morning; the battery of his phone was close to empty; emails from his friends and colleagues throughout the day boasted "Sent from my iPhone"...it was all becoming too much for him as lunch approached, allowing him to soon feed his growling, empty stomach.
As the clock struck noon, he slid open his chrome-effect, near-lifeless mobile phone and dialled.
"Hi baby, how you doin?"
"Good, good. Look, I'm coming to meet you for lunch, and we're buying new iPhones!"
"Yes, I'm sure."
"No, it's..."
"Yes, I..."
"Look. I'll see you in 15 minutes. No argument"
That man, that 'Loxy'...
...yours truly =;oP
About an hour later, Loxette and I made the slow walk back to our respective offices...hyped that we now were both proud owners of a very sexy new gadget : Apple's iPhone!
Now, you may have heard a few negative remarks, you may have heard some positive comments about it.
Well, all I can say, is to ignore what you've heard, take yourself into a phone store, have a good long play around with the iPhone, and decide for yourself.
For me?
Easy!
I am simply in love with it.
Loxette may even tell you that it has taken over my life, and I can barely leave it alone for 2 minutes.
Hmm...I'm afraid, she may be right!!

Gamerscore : 2000
All of a sudden, like a sledgehammer from out of nowhere, all threats are neutralised, then like the breeze, I am gone.
Well, that's certainly what happened this week, as I smashed through the 2000G barrier!
Sam Fisher was his name; Splinter Cell : Double Agent was the game.
Returning to the NCA, the game's protaganist takes on his deadliest mission yet, following his psychological breakdown after the death of his daughter.
However, before I led him through the early chapters of the game, it was the training mode which granted me the pass to step beyond the 2000 mark of GamerScore points!
Achievement : Teacher's Pet
Detail : In solo mode, successfully completed both training courses
GamerScore : 40G
Acquired : 20/03/2009

LoXgamers : An Xbox Live Gaming Team
I founded LoXgamers back in December 2003, with an aim to provide a home for casual gamers - from the UK over the age of 21 - who don’t worry about stats or being the very best of the best. We do however, endeavour to have a laugh, and enjoy a "fun-first" ethos to our gaming.
If you would like to join in our gaming sessions, add the following Xbox Live gamertags to your friends list :
- iLoxy
- LoXgamers
Hope to see you on live soon!

Fret's Return
Certainly the Rockstar and Blizzard titles have taken their fair share of criticism, but have also earned a hefty wedge of plaudits! They also keep attracting new gamers, and refreshing existing gamers appetites by introducing more and more gaming content and updates.
Well, I've always pretty much been a console-based gamer, with a few efforts made with Championship and Football Manager titles, but very few others. In late January of this year, a colleague of mine sent me an email invitation for a 10-day free trial of World of Warcraft - or WoW.
I accepted, created a character on a role-playing server, and was away! In a few short hours (I think it was about 4!), I had moved onto my second town, and was working away on a subquest plot which would allow me to tame a wild beast - in time, this would grant me the ability to have a pet for company, a battling aide and my own personal psychophant amusement.
Much to my dismay, the 10-day trial period snuck up on me quicker than a stealthy rat would run through a drainpipe, and my enjoyment was over.
I had invested a good 2-4 hours, most evenings within the trial period devoted to chatting with WoW-friends I had met online, and my 'real-life' mates who also played WoW.
I had learnt how to tame beasts, and was becoming attached to my Moonstalker / Sabre-tooth Tiger pet, which I affectionately named 'Chimera'.
For the few post-WoW trial days, returning home from work, and switching on my laptop felt empty. As if all reason or purpose for having it's lights flicker, fans twirl and sounds beep at me, was in vain - there was no meaning to it all.
Trying to cheer myself up by playing on Xbox Live...where few of my friends were online, didn't help.
My thoughts kept returning to Chimera, and how helpless and lost he must feel without his master to take him for walks every evening. How scared the locals must be without their new hero to protect them them innumerable dangers. How useless my fishing rod was, simply being propped up in the corner, instead of seeking out a tasty meal for its master fisherman, and his hungry pet.
At least, that's how I felt until last night...until I had purchased a 6-month subscription for the game, logged in, and was reunited with my Chimera!
Oh, how quickly the night flew by (after I had returned from 7-a-side footy), as Chimera and I went fishing, recovered 3 Thresher Eyes, accepted a quest to assist Grimclaw...and slayed some diseased bears!
The joy!
The excitement!
The relaxation!
Well, I can understand how people can become embroiled in the addictive, persistent worlds of online gaming, but, if parents of gamers, and indeed the gamers theirselves are more responsible, these games can be enjoyed sensibly and offer a wonderful experience - both of entertainment and social connection.
To this end, tonight, I, Fretawlyn - Night Elf, Hunter - return to the lands of Darkshore & Auberdine, accompanied by my trusted companion, Chimera, to rejoin my Guild brethren of LoX!
Tonight, we shall again quest!

The highlight though, has been Hitman : Blood Money!
A murder-fest of a game, involving stealth-killing, changing disguises, faking kills to appear as accidents...all with an element of a Role-Playing Game.
It's a game series I've loved since I played the first sequel, Hitman 2 : Silent Assassin.
Well, this week, when playing Hitman : Blood Money, it was from the second achievement I gained, which saw me break the 1000G marker!

People That Play : An Introduction
When gaming, my aim is always to provide a home for new and / or existing Xbox Live gamers, casual, mature gamers, who may not have a lot of time to commit to gaming, and don't wish to worry about joining a clan for fear of abuse when they can't attend a match, event, tournament or practice session, etc.
