Now, typically, I've always used MyGamerCard.net's website for this, and displayed it happily in my forum profile on my own - and others' - gaming sites.
However, yesterday I came across a website I'd not heard of, let alone visited before : Xbox Friends Watch. I liked the look of the Vista and XP Gamercard widgets, and tried having a go at customising my own XBF Gamercard for WinXP (I don't have Vista platform OS).
Well, unfortunately, when I entered my gamertags, one-by-one, I simply received an error message : "unknown gamertag". Being the person I am, I was not happy - the widgets looked great, really fresh, and interactive, compared to the MGC version.
So, I used the feedback option on the right side of the XBF website, described the problem I had faced, and lo-and-behold, I received a personalised reply - TODAY!
I was astounded - in a pleasant way! No auto-generated "thank you for your message, we will be in touch...", but a genuine confirmation of receipt of my original e-mail, by a real human (as in, non robot-fed text), acknowledging there was a problem!
My surprise went even further, however, as I continued reading, to discover the problem I had reported had been identified, and fixed! So, after a hard day at work, painful game of 7-a-side football, I return home to post up and proudly display, for all to see, my new XBF Gamercard!!
Give it a go yourself, and whilst you're there, take a brief diversion to the blogsite of the owner / designer of the XBF website : Adam Kinney.
It's a well-written, informative site, that's great for gadget / geek / techno-fans (like myself), delivered in an easy-to-understand manner...I've just added it to my iPhone RSS-feed reader, and look forward to checking out the regular updates!
Like I said earlier - a very pleasant and surprising discovery on the web, found randomly amidst the mire of jargon-driven, mulch-laden tech sites that litter our virtual pages of info-babble.
I've moved my XBL Gamercards, as you may have noticed.
ReplyDeleteI found the SilverLight add-in too troublesome.
